Quick verdict
What stands out
Bonanza is useful as the baseline Megaways reference because changing reel heights alter the number of symbol routes on every spin. Winning combinations tumble away, and the free-spins feature adds a multiplier that increases with consecutive tumbles. The mechanic is influential, but current public source coverage for the original title is fragmented, so unverified configuration values remain blank.
How Bonanza works
Each of the six main reels can show a variable number of symbols, with an additional horizontal reel supplying symbols across the top. The active reel heights determine the number of ways for that round, up to 117,649. Winning symbols are removed in a tumble and replacements arrive before the same paid round is evaluated again.
Features and mechanics
Four scatter symbols open twelve free spins in the commonly documented original rules. During the feature, each successful tumble raises a win multiplier that does not reset until the tumble sequence ends. Additional scatters can add spins. The grid variability and the tumble chain therefore create two independent forms of round-to-round change.
RTP versions and volatility
The approved public reference used for this bootstrap establishes the Bonanza title and Megaways context but does not expose a numeric RTP in accessible page text. The record is explicitly unavailable until a game sheet is attached. Values from Christmas Bonanza or other franchise editions are not assigned to this game.
RTP is a long-term theoretical value, not a prediction for a session. Slot outcomes are chance-based and cannot be made profitable through a guaranteed strategy.
Strengths
- Variable reel heights make the pay system meaningfully dynamic
- Tumbles and feature multipliers share one sequence model
- The original title provides a useful Megaways baseline
Limitations
- Current approved public configuration data is incomplete
- Ways counts can be harder to visualise than fixed lines
- Many similarly named editions increase comparison risk
